This section is about the long and circuitous route taken by me, Steve Haptonstahl, after deciding I wanted to be a math professor. Back in high school, I came across a teacher named Jerry Nuckles who showed me that there's more than one correct way to do math. Proving trig identites proved challenging, but I was hooked. My senior year I found out about calculus, and that was it. I've been an unapollogetic math geek ever since (I was already one before, but I stopped apollogizing.)
These pages will share some of the fun and frustration, trials and treasures of my efforts to become a math professor. You have been warned.
